The author, who teaches a neuroscience of learning course online, shows teachers from the kindergarten to university level how to make decisions about teaching online, in relation to identifying, choosing, and compiling digital resources, as well as understanding the best evaluation methods, selecting communication options, and knowing the pedagogical approaches that are supported by the learning sciences. She provides examples of how teachers applied this information in real life during the COVID-19 pandemic, and she explains how the teaching-learning dynamic is changed by research from mind, brain, and education sciences and the implications for online courses. She outlines 40 interventions based on neuroscience in online contexts that apply to all teachers; how to design online environments; how to rethink time and space, including the academic calendar, synchronous and asynchronous learning, communication, assessment, and evaluation; how to plan new technologies; and how teaching online is equal to and sometimes better than traditional in-person classes.
