Odjick, Jay. (Author). Tenascon, Patrick. (Added Author).

Summary:

This is the story of a teenaged girl who, after moving from the reserve to a strange city, becomes addicted to gambling. She begins winning but eventually gets in over her head and begins to steal money from her parents and little sister to continue. As Brianna's addiction grows, she becomes withdrawn from family and friends, and eventually loses more than she can afford. She seeks help through the friendship centre where she finds acceptance and guidance.
"I am so glad I had the chance to read this, it is simple, colorful, and a great way to get to the message - increasing isolation, stealing money, pre-occupation with the addiction and hurting family, and finally, there is help available. Really great resource." – April 2009 Exemplary Literacy Materials Online Reviews.
