Staying healthy for beginners : an English learner’s guide to health care and healthy living / Sabrina Kurtz-Rossi, Claire Valier, and Gregory Smith.
This health literacy curriculum is written for adult learners at the high beginning level. Each chapter in the student book includes a theme picture for a discussion starter, a picture dictionary of related key words, a health information reading, a reading and writing exercise, dialogue practice, a practice activity to reinforce the content, an action step related to health care, and resources for further learning. Topics include health care, doctors, medicine, healthy food, and staying healthy. Written for an American audience, the details of the health care system will need to be changed for a Canadian context. A teacher guide is available separately.
