Summary: This discussion paper is the result of a working group organized by the Public Health Association of British Columbia, which included policy makers, researchers, and practitioners in the area of health and literacy. The paper has several goals: i) to identify priorities and use them to develop a framework for improving health literacy of Canadians; ii) to recommend actions which could be taken to increase health literacy of Canadians; iii) to make conversations about health literacy between practitioners, researchers, and policy makers easier, encouraging cross-sectoral work.
