Getting to know your computer Cover Image Book Book

Getting to know your computer

Summary: This workbook supports a 3 hour session introducing adult students to some specific skills related to getting started with a new computer; also includes a lesson plan which provides an outline for practitioners to teach adult learners these skills. Skills include knowing the parts of a computer, setting up a laptop, navigating and customizing the desktop, creating user accounts, how to use common computer software like MicroSoft Word, and how to shut down a computer safely. This is part of a series of field-tested workshops developed by CBAL. Students need basic skills before participating, such as knowing the basic parts of a computer (the screen, keyboard and mouse) and how to use a mouse (double click, right-click). This project was funded by Government of Canada's New Horizons for Seniors Program, and is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 Canada License.
