What's next? : a multilevel phonics approach for ESL students : teacher's guide / Lia Conklin.
What's next? is a two-level reading series designed for multilevel English classes. The stories follow a young woman through her early days learning English. Four student books for each level contain the same stories. The lesson's stories are presented in different formats for the two levels, and accompanied by listening, speaking, writing, vocabulary, and reading comprehension exercises for that level. The teacher's guide includes a scope and sequence chart, a multilevel lesson planner, guidance on using the whole-parts-whole phonics approach on which the books are based, and extension activities for each lesson in the four books.
"I thought these books were great resources for low level literacy classes. I used it to work on long and short vowel sounds. My only criticism is the books are very repetitive so over time the students lost interest." – July 2012 Exemplary Literacy Materials Online Reviews.
