Why literacy matters to business

Summary: "With a record labour shortage taking place in BC and an increased focus on how to reach adults with literacy issues, there is no better time to focus on how the issues around literacy impact an individual, a community, a province and a nation. In September 2008, ReadNow BC hosted a speaking tour in two BC communities featuring Craig Alexander (Vice President and Deputy Chief Economist with TD Bank Financial Group) and Tracy Defoe (Chief Education Officer at The Learning Factor). Mr. Alexander raises awareness of the impacts of low literacy on our economy and left each community with a better understanding of how they can be part of the solution where they work and live." This DVD contains the complete footage from one of these events and is useful for highlighting the need for improving literacy levels in B.C.
