"This report presents the results of the 2003 International Adult Literacy and Skills Survey (IALSS) that aimed to measure the literacy, numeracy and problem solving competencies of the Canadian population as a whole and at the provincial and territorial level. It focuses on literacy proficiency distributions in British Columbia and makes comparisons with national results as presented in the national publication Building or Competencies: Canadian Results of the International Adult Literacy and Skills Survey. This report also analyses the relationships between socio-demographic characteristics, such as age, education level, type of work and income, and performance in literacy, numeracy and problem solving."
