Summary: This article, contained in .pdf format on CD-ROM, reports on a research project studying the use of pre-employment testing. It studies how the increased use of pre-employment testing affects the lives of job searchers, employment service providers, and literacy practitioners and learners. The article focuses on answering the question "how can literacy practitioners help learners prepare for pre-employment testing?" This is the first disc of the occupational curriculum series which is based on the essential skills component that will directly link learning outcomes and demonstrations to the essential skills of that occupation. The occupations covered are: Call Centre, Skilled Trades Helpers and Laborers, Customer Service, Hospitality, Food Services, and Groundskeeping. Each curriculum also includes study skills, test-taking tips and strategies, supportive job search, and placement.
